Sally Harrell Endorses Jon Ossoff for 2017 Special Election

If there’s one lesson progressives and Democrats have learned over the past decade, it’s that every vote counts. Every single one.

  • In 2000, 537 votes separated Al Gore from George Bush in Florida, out of over 104 million cast nationally.
  • In 2016, a small pockets of voters in states like Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania put Donald Trump over the Electoral College threshold, even though Hillary Clinton won the popular vote.
  • Here at home in Brookhaven, former Rep. Taylor Bennett (D) lost to birther Meagan Hanson (R) by 286 votes, out of over 24,000 cast.

When we lose by small margins, we lose big in public policy.

As a tried and true progressive, with a deep interest in reforming health care, education and addressing the economic struggles of the middle class, I do not want to lose District 6. We have a chance to ignite the momentum that will propel us into big change for 2018. And it is imperative that we send a strong message to Washington DC, right now, as the rest of the country watches.

Jon Ossoff is in a position to deliver that message.

It is for that reason, I am endorsing, and actively working toward electing Jon Ossoff in the April 18th special election to fill the vacancy left by Tom Price. The voters of Milton, Alpharetta, John’s Creek, Marietta, Doraville, Brookhaven, Chamblee and Tucker, along with all the others, have a tremendous opportunity to flip this seat. But it will take all of us.

No spoiler candidates. No staying home. It’s time to get up, out, and take action.

Jon has brought his experience and resources to launch a fiercely paced, well-funded campaign that has given us hope in a time of despair. I believe Jon to be open minded and willing to learn from all of us.

When I announced my intentions to run for this very seat, I did so to fight for progressive change… change that utilizes public policy to improve people’s lives. I remain committed to that end and will work with Jon to champion progressive issues such as health care that puts people before profits, education that embraces the unique potential of every child, and clean energy environmental policies that bring forth innovative job opportunities and transportation solutions.

I believe Jon Ossoff will work for me and my family in Washington DC. He will work for you too. We just need to get him there.

Please join me in supporting Jon Ossoff for Congress. You can vote right now by finding your polling place at https://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/MVP/mvp.do.

When we’re this close, every single vote matters. On April 18th, I encourage you to give yours to Jon.

Yours Sincerely,
Sally Harrell
